Power Outage Night of May 8
Power will be shut down in New College Building the night of May 8 so that Hahnemann/Tenet can make essential repairs to the electrical grid that supplies the building. This outage will interrupt normal power to all parts of NCB, including the IT data center and servers. During the outage, email, computer/share drive access, and other CoM-IT-supported services will not be available; this includes Allscripts and GE/IDX.
CoM-IT will begin powering down at 8 p.m. in preparation for the outage. Please back up and shut down your computer at the close of business or no later than 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8. The full electrical outage will begin at 10 p.m. and is expected to last between 2 and 8 hours. Only authorized personnel may enter New College Building during this time.
Three text message advisories will be sent regarding the outage:
- Advisory that the outage has begun.
- Advisory that power has been restored and systems are being inspected.
- Advisory that all systems are up and operational.
Clinical departments seeing patients are encouraged to print out schedules and charts for their Thursday (May 9) patients. Please refer to your departmental downtime procedures.
